All about working with me as your illustrator

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve been having a lovely May so far and you’re enjoying all the sunshine we’ve been getting. ☀️ 

For today’s post, I wanted to tell you all about what to expect from working with me. 

You might be looking for an illustrator for your first project, so you’re not too sure how it works. Or maybe you’re searching for a new illustrator and you’re curious about what my process looks like. Either way, you’ve come to the right place! Just read on to find a breakdown of the steps we’ll take together to bring your visions to life. 

Step one - getting the ball rolling 

So you’re looking for unique, playful illustrations to work hand-in-hand with your story. Look no further – I’ve got you! 

Simply send me a direct message on Instagram or Facebook, or email me at eleanor@brushandbrewillustrations.com. Just include a little bit of info about your project and what you’re looking for, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. 

Step two – let’s have a chat 

We can arrange a relaxed, 30-45 minute introductory call to see if we’re a good fit to work together. We’ll chat about your project and ideas, and how I can bring them to life. 

Step three – your personalised plan 

Together, we’ll come up with a plan and timeline that’s tailored to you. 

Typically, illustrations for book projects take 3-6 months from start to finish – but we can come up with a schedule that works best for you. 

Plus, we’ll arrange regular check-ins at each stage of the process, so there’ll be lots of opportunities to incorporate your ideas. 

Step four – your initial sketches 

I’ll create some sketches to give you an initial flavour of the illustration style and direction. At this stage, they might look something like this… 

Step five – your image edits 

Each month, I’ll work on a different set of images, which I’ll then send over to you for your thoughts. 

For each image, we’ll have the flexibility to make up to three rounds of edits - so we can make sure the finished illustrations are exactly how you’d like them. 

Step six – the finished product 

As we come to the end of the process together, we’ll have our final few check-ins to tie up any loose ends and make sure you’re 100% happy with your new illustrations. I’ll send over the final high-resolution images so you have the all-important files you need.
